When Did I Become Everyone Else Before Becoming Me? A Pranic Healing Journey to Wholeness

A personal story of losing and finding myself through Pranic Healing, an energy healing practice that restored my sense of self, my confidence, and my mental health and wellbeing.

There comes a moment, often in the quiet, when the noise of everyday life fades just enough for a single question to rise.

Who am I… really?

Not mum. Not wife. Not the woman who holds everything together for everyone else. Just… me.

Many women reach this point after years of loving, giving, and carrying for others. Somewhere along the way, we lose ourselves in the roles we play, without even realising it’s happening and it can quietly take a toll on our mental health and sense of identity.

For me, that moment came after years of doing what I thought I was meant to do.

You fall in love. You get married. You pour yourself, pure and hopeful, into your marriage, into learning how to fit into a new family, new expectations, new roles.

Then come the children. And once again, you give everything. Your body. Your time. Your sleep. Your energy. Your heart.

You give because that’s what love looks like in this season.

Years pass quietly while you’re busy running. Running to school drop-offs and pick-ups. Running to sports practices, swimming classes, birthday parties. Running to the supermarket store, the laundry, the endless meals.

Making sure everyone is fed, clothed, supported, encouraged. Making sure everyone else is okay.

Until one day, you pause. And the question finally catches up with you.

Who am I beneath all of this?

I realised I had lost myself in the process of loving and giving. I couldn’t remember what I enjoyed doing. Did I even have a hobby? What did I like before life became about everyone else?

That question stayed with me, and eventually, it led me somewhere unexpected.

For the first time in a very long time, I chose something just for me. That’s when I began my Pranic Healing journey.

Discovering Energy Healing

At the time, I didn’t fully understand what Pranic Healing was or how deeply it would change my life. I just knew it felt right, like something inside me was waking up, that inner knowing.

As I started learning and practising this form of energy healing, something clicked. I remembered that as a child, I loved helping people. I couldn’t stand seeing others upset or in pain. I always wanted to comfort, support, and make things better. Becoming a Pranic Healer didn’t feel random, it felt like coming home to who I had always been.

Through Pranic Healing, I didn’t just learn a healing modality, I found purpose.

The Guilt, and What Came After

Attending Pranic Healing courses wasn’t easy emotionally at first. Guilt crept in. Guilt for taking time away from my family. Guilt for choosing myself. But something deeper kept calling me forward.

Now, when I reflect on that time, I see how misplaced that guilt was.

Those courses strengthened my confidence. They rebuilt my sense of self and supported my own mental health along the way. Returning to Pranic Healing courses to review and deepen my knowledge, and learning from my teacher Les Flitcroft from the UK Pranic Healing Institute, showed me that this path mattered, not just for me, but for the people I was meant to help.

Today, I am grateful and happy to say I am a Pranic Healing therapist.

I value the time I spend attending courses. I cherish the growth, learning, and connection. And most importantly, I return to my family fuller, calmer, and more present. I give to them from a higher vibration, not from exhaustion or resentment.

I now live a more balanced life, one where I honour my roles and myself.

Losing yourself doesn’t mean you failed. It means you loved deeply.

And finding yourself doesn’t mean you’re taking away from your family. It means you’re giving back from a place of wholeness.

Pranic Healing gave my life more meaning, more confidence, and more joy. It reminded me that I am allowed to evolve, to grow, and to have a purpose beyond the roles I play.

Life feels aligned now. Life feels balanced. And truly, life is good.

If you’re navigating a season of feeling lost in your roles, energy healing through Pranic Healing may offer the same sense of clarity and wholeness it gave me. Get in touch to find out more about sessions and courses.

As a Pranic Healing therapist, the two issues I see walk through my door more than any other are stress and anxiety. They show up in so many different forms, and in my experience, they’re very often tangled up with trauma from somewhere in a person’s past, sometimes from years ago, sometimes from something far more recent, this is not always the case and is one view point, from my experience. By the time someone books a Pranic Healing session with me, that anxiety has usually been building quietly for a long time.

Anxiety Doesn’t Look the Same in Everyone

One of the things I’ve learned from working with clients is that anxiety wears many different faces.

In children, it might show up as constant worry, endless questions, or a need to stay physically close to a parent at all times. A child who’s anxious often has a deep, persistent need to feel safe, and that need can come from something they’ve directly experienced, or simply from overhearing adult conversations they weren’t meant to be part of. Children pick up on far more than we realise, and that sense of unease can settle into their energy system long before they have the words to explain what they’re feeling.

In adults, I often see anxiety connected to big life transitions, returning to work after having a baby, going back into the workforce after time away, or stepping back into situations that once felt natural but now feel overwhelming. There’s a particular kind of anxiety that comes from feeling out of practice in your own life, unsure of your footing, worried about being judged or falling short. And because none of this is easily measured, it can be dismissed or minimised, even though it’s very real.

What I’ve come to understand is that anxiety doesn’t need a single big event to take hold. It can build slowly, layer by layer, over months or years, until it becomes a constant undercurrent running beneath everything a person does.

Why Stress and Anxiety Take Such a Toll

Stress and anxiety don’t just live in the mind; they settle into the body and into a person’s energy field. When someone is carrying unresolved stress, trauma, or grief, it can leave them feeling drained, on edge, or triggered by small conversations, that lead to worrying and overthinking and this can leave you feeling disconnected from a sense of calm or purpose. Over time, this can affect sleep, relationships, confidence, and the ability to simply feel at ease in everyday life.

This is where Pranic Healing comes in.

How Pranic Healing Supports Stress and Anxiety

Pranic Healing is a no-touch energy healing system, developed by Master Choa Kok Sui, that works with the body’s energy field, known as the aura and it’s energy centres, or chakras. Rather than focusing only on the symptoms of stress and anxiety, Pranic Healing works to clear and release the build-up of negative or stagnant energy that so often sits underneath those feelings, while energising the body with fresh, clean prana, also known as life force energy or chi energy.

In my own sessions, working with clients experiencing stress and anxiety, I focus on:

Releasing built-up stress and negative energy – Anxiety and stress accumulate in the aura over time, much like a heavy cloud. Cleansing this energy helps lift that weight.

Calming and stabilising the energy centres connected to fear and worry – Certain chakras are closely linked to our sense of safety, confidence, and emotional balance. Bringing these back into harmony can ease the constant state of alertness that anxiety creates.

Addressing the root, not just the symptom – Because so much anxiety is connected to past experiences or trauma, Pranic Healing aims to support the underlying imbalance rather than simply masking how someone feels in the moment.

Restoring a sense of calm and purpose – As the energy body comes back into balance, many clients describe feeling steadier, less reactive, and more able to respond to life’s challenges rather than feeling triggered by them.

What Clients Often Notice

People who come to me for stress and anxiety treatment often describe a real shift, not just in how they feel during a session, but in their day-to-day life afterwards. Situations that once felt overwhelming start to feel manageable. The constant hum of worry begins to quieten. There’s more space to feel calm, present, and connected to a sense of purpose, rather than being ruled by anxious thoughts.

Healing isn’t usually instant, and everyone’s journey looks a little different but with consistent treatment, many people who I treat for Stress and Anxiety, find that they’re able to meet life’s stresses from a much steadier place within themselves.

Trained Through the Institute for Pranic Healing UK & Ireland

I trained as a Pranic Healing therapist through the Institute for Pranic Healing UK & Ireland, learning directly from the system developed by Master Choa Kok Sui. If you’re going through stress, anxiety, or feel like the weight of past experiences is still affecting you today, I’d love to help you find your way back to a calmer, more balanced version of yourself.

If this resonates with you, get in touch to book a session and start your own healing journey.

Grief is a complex emotional experience that people go through when they lose someone or something they deeply care about. The experience of grief is unique to each person and can vary in intensity and duration depending on the individual and the nature of the loss. Here are some types of grief and the trauma linked to losing someone close:

Normal Grief: Normal grief is the most common type of grief and is a natural response to loss. It is characterized by a range of emotions such as sadness, anger, disbelief, and confusion. Normal grief can last for weeks or months, but with time and support, most people are able to work through it and resume their daily activities.

Complicated Grief: Complicated grief occurs when the symptoms of grief persist for an extended period and interfere with daily functioning. This type of grief is characterized by intense feelings of loss, despair, and yearning, as well as difficulty accepting the reality of the loss. Complicated grief can be triggered by a sudden, unexpected loss or the loss of someone with whom the person had a complicated or difficult relationship.

Anticipatory Grief: Anticipatory grief is a type of grief that occurs before the actual loss. This type of grief can occur when a person knows that their loved one is terminally ill or has a life-limiting condition. Anticipatory grief can be as intense as grief after the loss, and may include a range of emotions such as sadness, anger, and anxiety.

Collective Grief: Collective grief occurs when a community or society experiences a significant loss or tragedy. This type of grief can be triggered by events such as natural disasters, mass shootings, or terrorist attacks. Collective grief can be overwhelming and may lead to feelings of hopelessness, fear, and anger.

Trauma linked to losing someone close:

Losing someone close can be traumatic, especially if the death was sudden or unexpected. Trauma can manifest in a range of symptoms such as anxiety, depression, anger, guilt, and shock. Trauma can also affect a person’s ability to function in their daily life and may require professional intervention. Some common symptoms of trauma related to loss include:

Intrusive Thoughts: Recurring thoughts, memories, or images of the loved one that cause distress.

Avoidance: Avoiding people, places or things that remind the person of their loved one.

Numbness: Feeling emotionally numb or detached from others.

Hyperarousal: Being easily startled, feeling on edge, or having trouble sleeping.

Guilt: Feeling guilty for things left unsaid or undone with the loved one.

Depression: Persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or emptiness.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, here are some ways in which Pranic Healing can help with grief and trauma:

Releasing Negative Energy: Grief and trauma can create imbalances in the body’s energy fields, leading to negative emotions, physical discomfort, and disease. Pranic Healing techniques can help to release stagnant energy and negative emotions, allowing the body to restore its natural state of balance and harmony.

Easing Emotional Pain: Pranic Healing can help to ease emotional pain by releasing energy blockages and promoting a sense of relaxation and calm. This can help individuals process their grief and trauma in a more productive and healthy way, reducing the risk of complications like depression and anxiety.

Supporting the Healing Process: Pranic Healing can help to support the body’s natural healing processes by promoting the flow of vital energy and boosting the immune system. This can help to reduce the risk of complications like infections and other health problems that can arise during periods of intense emotional stress.

In summary, Pranic Healing can help with grief and trauma by releasing negative energy, easing emotional pain, supporting the healing process, and providing comfort and support. If you are experiencing grief or trauma, it is important to seek the support of a qualified Pranic Healing practitioner or other professional healthcare provider to develop a personalized treatment plan that meets your unique needs.

As you mentioned, everyone’s experience of grief and trauma is unique, and there is no right or wrong way to feel or react when dealing with such a loss. It’s normal to experience a range of emotions such as shock, denial, anger, guilt, and sadness. These emotions can come and go in waves, and it’s important to give yourself permission to feel whatever you’re feeling without judgment.

Seek Support: It’s important to reach out to friends and family members for emotional support. You may also want to consider joining a support group for people who have lost a loved one or seeking the help of a therapist who specializes in grief and trauma.

Take Care of Yourself: Self-care is crucial when dealing with grief and trauma. This may involve getting enough sleep, eating well, exercising, and engaging in activities that you enjoy.

Allow Yourself to Grieve: Grieving is a natural process, and it’s important to allow yourself to feel and express your emotions. This may involve talking about your feelings with others, writing in a journal, or engaging in other creative outlets that help you process your emotions.

Be Patient: Healing from grief and trauma takes time, and there is no set timeline for recovery. Be patient with yourself and give yourself permission to grieve at your own pace.

When coming for a Pranic Healing Treatment, ask yourself if you are ready to take the next step after losing someone, this doesn’t mean that you have forgotten them, this means you are ready to heal. I lost my eldest brother last year September, his sudden death left an indescribable pain in my heart. We all hear about stories of people getting a knock on the door by policeman or a phone call to say someone has passed. When you are the one that receives that phone call, it literally sends your body into shock and disbelief. This story was my families we lost our gem, someone I loved so dearly, someone I respected, someone that taught me how to be fierce and stand up for myself. This someone left us all alone, without saying goodbye.

My brother’s soul had departed from his body and his current human life had come to an end. However, I truly believe his soul remains alive, and this I believe to be the true essence of human existence. As I gained a better understanding of this, my attachment to the pain and suffering of his loss lessened. Instead, I welcomed and supported his next journey by sending him love, prayers, and healing. In the lead-up to his funeral, I decided to assist my family members in their healing, which in turn helped me with my own healing process. I recognise that coping with grief is a challenging and ongoing process, and failing to move forward with our lives can lead to further pain, stress, and anxiety. It’s important to live in the present moment and cherish the time we have with our loved ones, as life is limited for all of us. While losing someone can evoke feelings of sadness, anger, and resentment, it’s possible to find beauty in life and hold onto cherished memories. In my experience, losing someone doesn’t mean the end of our relationship with them; it simply marks the beginning of a new way to remember and honour them, as a part of them will always live within us. Don’t get me wrong, I do have moments where I feel upset when I talk about him, or I drive past certain places that trigger my emotions, it’s human nature to have these highs and lows. I keep him close to my heart and my prayers.
